"He is Risen!"..."He has risen indeed!"

We had such a glorious 3-day Easter Extravaganza this year!

On Friday, we started off the holiday by celebrating with our mommies group. We had a picnic...

And then while Mrs. Brenda was doing "Resurrection Eggs"...

...with the kids...

...the mamas were hiding eggs for the egg hunt...

The kids were SO excited! Ready, seeeeeeet....

...GO!!!...

We had such a GREAT time with our friends!

Later that night, we went to Good Friday church service. Good Friday service is always my favorite service of the year. It's so emotional...thinking of Christ as not only Holy...but also as a man. A man who suffered for my sin. It's so humbling. This year, Wyatt joined us, and he received communion for the first time. It was such a special moment to teach him...to share with him. I love these life experiences.

On Saturday, the kids woke with only one thing on their mind...."It's Grammy's Annual Easter Lalapalooza Day!!!"

For the last 6 years, my mom has hosted a 2-Day Easter event at her house. On Saturday we have fun, fun, fun partaking in the more "commercial side" of Easter with family and friends. And then on Sunday, after church, we gather as a family, and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord with family over brunch.

So, lets start with Saturday... :0)

The girlies showed up in some Easter flare...

But those cute vests were soon replaced by bathing suits!!!

We had big plans for bubble guns...

...and water fun in a Batman car shaped pool!...

Beatrice: Ummm, Excuse me Zack...can I be the Robin to your Batman?"

And then we dyed Easter eggs...

And the mamas had gab-fests...

Then we decorated spring cookies...

Samantha makes cookies like her Auntie. You decorate a little...

...and then you eat a little... ;0)

Wyatt decorated a bee for our Bea...

And then there were wagon rides...

And faces painted...

And balloon creations...

There were more gab fests over a delicious pasta dinner...

And even more chatting while indulging on homemade ice cream! My mom made the most amazingly rich chocolate ice cream, roasted strawberry buttermilk ice cream, butter-mint ice cream, and key lime pie ice cream...SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Mmmmmmmm!!!

After MUCH fun (and little sleep), we were up early for Easter morning. I had surprised my kiddos with Easter pancakes...

And then we were off to church...

And then back to Grammy's house for the 2nd day of Easter fun and celebration. The only thing better than a day with family, is...TWO days with family! :0)

After the most delicious brunch EVER(!!!), the kids were ready for the Easter egg hunt...

After Auntie Jenni reviewed the rules..."There ARE no rules!"...the kids were off!...

Beatrice excited about her full basket...

And Wyatt showing off his goods...

The perfect end, to a perfect weekend...

  1. Holy smokes! So much to say, so little room and time! ;-) OK, first off, who had more fun...the adults or the kids?! EVERYTHING looked amazing...ESPECIALLY our mom! Mom's hair looked BEAUTIFUL in all the pictures! Did Bea's Easter day dress have a huge bow in the back? The french braids in her hair were awesome!

Your mommy's group. Seriously the coolest "group" I know! I LOVE how for MANY years, you all have stuck together, and your kids are like half-siblings by now with all the consistent play groups you all have. I also just LOVE how structured you all and how great you all work together as a team or even like a tribe. ;-) I so long for a solid group like that for myself and my kids. My heart is happy knowing you guys have such wonderful support and love beyond just our extended family. God is good!
