B.B.B. (Before Big Bear)

In the weeks before Big Bear we had a couple of adventures worth documenting. :0)

There was our 2nd trip to Christmas-Sea-World with 2-B...

And because we went mid-week this time, there were so few people at Sea World that our littles pretty much had free reign in snow world...SUCH FUN!...

And speaking of snow...and Christmas...my kids had their first experience with a mall-Santa. This wasn't planned at all...or maybe I would have dressed them more appropriately/festive...but we happened to be running errands at the mall...there was no line to see Santa...Wyatt was SO wanting to "chat" with him...and so there you have it...

We had a visit from Sleeping Beauty...in full costume...

And finally, we had a birthday to celebrate! :0) We would be leaving for our big-group-family-vacation-in-Big-Bear on Wyatt's actual birthday, and we would be celebrating that event with our extended family in the cabin, but Rick was not going on this trip, so we wanted to have a mini-celebration with "Daddy" earlier in the week. Wyatt was allowed to pick any restaurant he wanted, and he ended up deciding on Corvette Diner. We tried to convince him otherwise, but to no avail. I feel like 2012 has been the year of Corvette Diner! Other then while being on vacation, I think we have gone out to dinner only 12 times this year...and 6 of those times were to Corvette Diner. :-0 I never thought I could say this, but that's a little too much Elvis for this mama, lol! With that being said, even on a C.D.-overload, it's never a bad time there. :0)

Milkshakes have the magical ability to make even the familiar special...

Throw in MORE ice cream, and a singing-spectacle and you've got yourself a solid celebration!...

The last moments we captured at home before our trip to Big Bear were...

The birthday boy's request of having breakfast-in-bed (Chocolate peppermint pancakes & scrambled eggs) for the first time...having your favorite gal pal with you makes it all the more fun :0)...

Aaaand finally, one of the benefits of turning 8 years old is that CA law deems it appropriate for you to ride in a car without a child-restraint-system (a.k.a. car seat / booster seat)...

This was officially the FINAL baby-ish/toddler-ish thing in Wyatt's life. I can't believe that whole phase is over for my first baby. Not that I'm old (I've noticed that you start saying that out of defense when you ARE beginning to be "old"...at least I thought my parents were "old" in there 30's, lol) but these have been the very fastest 8 years of my life (especially the last 4 since Beatrice entered our world)!!! Time has just flown by!...one minute you are bringing home this CRYING (and wouldn't stop crying for the next 6 months) baby from the hospital, and the next minute he's old enough to ride in a car with only a seat belt! One minute you have this baby that can can only figure out how to crawl BACKWARDS, and the next minute you have this KID that can run a 5K with you at your side! One minute you are struggling to sustain this baby nutritionally (I failed at breastfeeding him, and then out of ignorance(???) we went through 5 different kinds of formula trying to find one that would agree with his belly), and then you have this kid who has been preparing breakfast every morning for him and his sister for over a year! This baby...this toddler...this kid...I have loved you every day...and lucky for me, I have also enjoyed your company everyday (not every minute of everyday, lol...but most minutes of everyday.)

Just 2 more years until double-digits...someone pass me a barf-bag and a box of Kleenex! ;0)
