Big Bear 2012 (Days 3 & 4)

Day 3, Saturday, was our last full-day in Big Bear. Everyone tries to squeeze in as much as possible on that final day in an attempt to make our Big Bear experience everything that we had hoped it would be in the months/weeks/days leading up to our trip.

For most of the men, that meant MORE FISHING! Even Wyatt had a special fishing date with Grandpa on Saturday...I wish I would have asked my dad to take a photo or 2...but I didn't...sigh.

For most of the younger boys, they wanted to get in MORE "Nintendo D.S." time...

...even the baby wanted to try her hand at the game, lol!...

Some just wanted MORE relaxation...

Some of us wanted to get our snack on...

Some of us wanted to be creative...

Some of us continued to play cards...

...and some just wanted to "hang out"...

My main objective for our final day was to do a little shopping in town! :0)...

...and then go for a little scenic drive...

Bea's main objective was to survive shopping with me, so she could be rewarded with a trip to the park, lol. Lucky (or not so lucky???) for her, some of her cousins joined us at the park too! My sister Jenni & I decided early on that this park experience had to be one of the WORST park experiences EVER! By this time in the day/vacation the kids were completely over-tired and over-sugared! There were constant meltdowns and battles over every single piece of playground equipment...these are the moments in parenting that you just have to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. Surprisingly though, I mostly only captured the RARE smiles at the park...

...Oh, but here's a teenie-tiny-taste of the boo-hoo-bunch...

The meals on Saturday are always fantastic!

Saturday morning breakfast was put on by my Aunt Veronica, and you can never eat enough of her french toast casserole with a caramel-rum sauce!...SOOOO good!

And then my sister Jenni & the rest of "Team Easy" (hey, that's what they call themselves, lol!) put on a delicious lunch of chicken salad sandwiches...

Saturday night dinner is the Grand Finale...the main event of the WHOLE weekend! Most of us usually dress up a little, but this year, it was mainly the little girls who did the most primping for the occasion...

My mom and her team cook up an amazing lasagna dinner!...

But first, there is an incredible poached pear salad...

And then bring on the lasagna! :0)

Immediately after dinner, we all participate in singing-Christmas-carol-silliness...

And would you believe...as we began singing "Here Comes Santa Clause..." Santa Clause actually walked through our door!!!...

My goodness Santa, that's an odd shaped belly you have!...

Who's ready to sit on Santa's lap!?...

There are way too many pictures of all of the kids sitting on Santa's lap, so I am going to just post the ones of my kiddos ;0) ...

OK, and a special shout-out to baby Eliana who LOOOOOOVED Santa...NOT!...

The night ended with all of Grammy's grandchildren in their Christmas jammies that she had bought for them :0)...

Well...that's how the night ended...for the kids at least, lol.

The adults carried on with more games, more puzzles, more gabbing, more snacking, and of course more laughing!

There aren't too many pictures from Sunday, our final day in Big Bear. Our final day in Big Bear is all about just 2 things...

1. Packing up!!! (And when your mom practically packs her entire house, and brings it up to Big Bear, you wouldn't believe all the packing up that is required!)

2. Our annual tradition of stopping off at Sugar Pine Bakery before driving down the mountain!! :0)...

What a fun trip we had!

And we all agreed it was nice to have a break from the snow. The carpet in the cabins actually stayed dry, no one slipped on black ice (that ALWAYS happens!), we didn't have to change our clothes 100 times, there weren't wet clothes (waiting to dry) lying about the cabin all weekend, I was able to go for a run outside, and it was nice to see the scenery in a different light. :0)

Thank you mom for all of your hard work that made this vacation possible!
