Dear Jennifer Hudson (Week 26)

Dear Jennifer Hudson,

My weight loss goal for this week was to lose 1 to 2 pounds...but surprisingly, on this scale this morning at my WW meeting, I lost 3.4 pounds! I was so stoked!..becaaaaaause that brought my grand total of pounds lost to 48 even!...I am just 2..TWO...DOS...pounds away from the 50 pound marker!!! I am so excited about reaching that milestone! I'm thinking it will be hard to lose a good amount of weight this upcoming week seeming as though the last 2 weeks have been GREAT numbers, but I'm going to do my BEST to reach that 50 pound marker next Tuesday! I gotta keep my eye on the tiger! :0)

That's pretty much all I have for you this week. I didn't make any new and exciting meals, and I didn't battle any crazy temptations.

It was a GOOD week.

Kitties & Kiddies

Last week my mom's favorite kitty, Mellon, passed away, and so this week, they welcomed a NEW kitty into their home!...but first, she came to our home for a visit! :0) We had so much fun meeting you Miss Mellonee!!!

We had Wyatt's follow-up dentist appointment. They originally thought he had his first cavity, but it turns out that it was some calcium build-up decay?? And so fortunately, no "scary" needles or drills were needed to correct the issue. He was happy! :0)

We had bubble-gum competitions this week...

And we ventured to Sea World with Bea's bestie...

I was crowned "cool mom" when I actually let the kids play in the water at Sea World!

And we went to see the movie "Brave" with Grammy and the San Diego Grand kids...

But the MOST FUN we had this week was when we got to cash in on our Groupon to Boomers! :0)

We rode rides...

And got SOAKED on the bumper boats....

And played some miniature golf (of course!)...

And did some rock climbing...

(after Wyatt did it first, we ALL wanted to try!)

Beatrice said her favorite part of the day was a tie between...the Go-Karts with me (but here is a picture of the time she went with daddy)...

...and when daddy won her a Care Bear out of the Claw machine!...

Wyatt said his favorite part of the day was a tie between...riding on the Go-Karts with Daddy (Booooo!...I was way more fun!!) ;0) ...

...and when Daddy won him a Yogi Bear out of the Claw machine!

I LOOOOVE adventures with my crew! :0)

Dear Jennifer Hudson (week 25)

I had a great week in the world of weight loss...just as I predicted, I nailed the scale and I am down 7.4 pounds for the week. The biggest help was that I didn't have any plans over the weekend...well, except Family Dinner Night on Sunday, but that is just standard, and adds minimal to no pressure on the diet. :0)

I DID go to the fair though this week. The best part was, was that we went immediately AFTER I weighed in at my WW meeting last Tuesday, so I had pretty much an entire 7 days to work off any poundage I gained from that adventure (which only ended up being a half pound that day!). AND another helpful factor was that I had my wisdom tooth pulled the day before we went, and so some things just didn't seem appetising at all...like anything that involved meat, and heavy chewing...for instance, these (giant bacon wrapped turkey legs)...

I mainly stuck to the sweets...mini chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, and something new we've never seen or tried before....

Oh my word, the Mexican Funnel Cake was INCREDIBLE!

These ENORMOUS sweet treats looked delicious also...

...but since my gut isn't what it used to be, after eating and sharing the 3 three things I mentioned above, there was NO WAY I was putting anything else into this stomach of mine!

SO all-in-all I was quite happy with my eating at the fair. I definitely enjoyed some things that I normally wouldn't eat on a diet, but I didn't go CRAZY like "the fair beast" inside of me usually does. ;0)

I did make some new WW recipes this week!

First, I made Chicken and Dumplings...

It was SO GOOD! It was a little high on WW points (11), so it didn't taste like diet food. ;0)

The other one, weeeeeell, wasn't a hit. Split Pea Soup...

I have never made split pea soup before, and none of us in our home had even ever tried it before, but in an effort to try something new, I decided to put my 31-years-of-split-pea-soup-judgement-and-fear behind me! But, yeah, I'm wishing I hadn't have been so adventurous, lol. I'm not sure if Paula Dean makes a creamier, saltier, bacon-ier, version that would change my mind about the nastiness of split pea soup, but WW's recipe certainly only confirmed my expectations! The kids each took 1 bite and said they were "done"...and Rick said it was "OK" (never a good sign), but then finished his bowl, and had seconds!? Hmmmmmm. Regardless, I won't be making that again.

Another fun thing I got to do this week, was do the "closet shuffle!" I got to take down all of the clothes in my closet that are now too big for me, and I got to pull out and hang up the last of my smaller clothes that were waiting for me in my "skinny bin." I LOVE doing the closet shuffle! I always find it so rewarding, and pulling out all of those *new* clothes feels like a shopping spree that doesn't break the budget!

The only bitter-sweet thing about the closet shuffle this time, is that I have now reached the bottom of my skinny bin. :0( I currently have a closet FULL of clothes that I can wear, but once these items become too big (which I hope they eventually will, lol), I am in uncharted territory, and I will have to buy/borrow new or used clothes as I continue on this journey. Not a TERRIBLE problem to have, but I sure will miss the convenience/non-expense of pulling out the *new* clothes from my personal stash.

So that's all I have for you this week. :0)

P.S. My hunny and I were flipping through the channels last night in bed, and I asked him to stop flipping when your new WW commercial came on the screen. You still look so good, and you are such an inspiration. Keep on, keepin' on! :0)

Life is better than FAIR

The week started off with my much anticipated wisdom-tooth-pulling. Fortunately, it was uneventful. :0) After waiting an hour and a half to see the dentist, once I sat in his chair, within 5 minutes I was shot-up with Novocain, the tooth was pulled, and the kids and I were out the door...success!
The following day, Tuesday, we ventured to the San Diego County Fair to watch Wyatt perform his Hip Hop dance!

Of course, since we were theeeeeere, we did eat some treats...

...visited the animals...

...and rode some rides....

(zoom in)

(again, zoom in...we might have had 1 too many "Mexican Funnel Cakes," LOL!)

....some might say that the BEST ride is the foot massager...

(Yeah, definitely worth the 25 cents!)

Unfortunately the next day, Wednesday, our Bea came down with a random fever and slept most of the day. :0(

She was back up and running on Thursday though! The cousins came over for a few hours. We had intense light-saber fights...

...which is probably the reason I decided to take all of this "energy" OUTSIDE, LOL! We spent hours at our park eating a picnic lunch, riding bikes, sidewalk-chalking...

...picking flowers...

...climbing trees...

...meeting new friends...

...rockin' our shades...

...and making good-bye wishes...

Friday we attended a memorial service of the dear friend that passed away several weeks ago. :0(

But Saturday was a neat day! It was mommy-has-no-plans-on-the-calendar-day!!! We celebrated by going to the splash pad at our YMCA...

...and spent time caring for our garden...

And finally, on Sunday, FATHER'S DAY, we got to give hilarious cards/questionnaires to Rick that the kids filled out about their daddy in the morning, and then after a long day at church, we got to celebrate MY "daddy" at Family Dinner Night...

Apparently the 4 of us (pictured above) missed the memo about wearing your cowboy boots to FDN (family dinner night)...

I love ending our weeks with FAMILY! :0)
